When I was in London this April, I missed Badu DJing at East Village, because it was sold out. A little consolation was the Worldwide Show featuring her.
Just when I was finishing Onra’s Jacket, I was listening to the show sewing and it made me feel real good. What a lovely journey.
It has been a while since I last took the time to listen to a Worldwide Show and it made me remember that Gilles Peterson has been an inspiration for a long time. With the Talking Loud Label, his night at Bar Rumba and of course the Worldwide Shows. Before my digital times, when I heard the new music strictly in the record shops, clubs, radioshows, MTV Yo Raps or MTV Soul, you surely could catch me writing down artists or track titels listening to the Worldwide Radio Show. Of course I would travel to the Worldwide Nights at Montreux Jazz Festival. Big inspiration right there. Always seeking for quality music. Very big inspiration for me to have a vision for my Patchwork Nights. Trusting my taste of music and believing in it. He showed me it’s possible!
Last weekend I ran into LEXX. He was exited and mentioned, that Gilles twittered the link to my blogg. As bad as I am at Twitter, I didn’t even see it for about 1 week! Thanks for letting me know mate! Of course this right here put a biiiig smile on my face! Glad you like Mr. Peterson et MERCI!
